Three Convicted in Child Abuse Case at Government Residential School, Karo

ITANAGAR, Sep 24: The Special POCSO Court at Yupia on Tuesday convicted three individuals in connection with the abuse of 21 children at the Government Residential School in Karo, Shi-Yomi district. The convicted individuals are Yumken Bagra (Hostel Warden), Marbom Ngomdir (Teacher), and Singtung Yorpen (Headmaster).

Two other accused, Daniel Pertin and Tajung Yorpen, were acquitted, according to Advocate Oyam Binggep, who represented the 21 minor victims.

The sentencing will take place on Wednesday, where the court will determine whether the convicts will receive life imprisonment or a six-year term. Bagra has been convicted under Section 328 of the IPC and under the POCSO Act, while Ngomdir and Yorpen were convicted under Section 506 of the IPC and relevant sections of the POCSO Act.
