Nakap Nalo appeals to central govt for more funds for promotion of tourism development infra

GUWAHATI, Sep 13: The two days conference of tourism and cultural minister conference of NE region began here on Monday. The union tourism and culture minister G Kishan Reddy, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, tourism and culture ministers of NE states attended the meeting. Addressing the gathering the union tourism minister G Kishan Reddy said the government of India is working on a plan to develop tourism policy.

“There is a need for proper tourism policy in the country. Tourism sector should get the status of industry,” said the minister. He emphasized on using PP mode to promote tourism in the NE states. “Young entrepreneurs should be encouraged and supported. Policies should be framed in such a way to support the PP mode for promotion of the tourism sector,” he added. “Films can play an important role in promoting tourism. The state and central government will work together in this regard. Social media can also be effectively used to woo tourists,” said G Kishan Reddy.

Further he suggested the states improve the website of the tourism department and make it more informative and attractive. The tourism minister of Arunachal Pradesh Nakap Nalo who also spoke on the occasion highlighted the tourism potential of the state. He requested the central government to provide a separate window for promotion of Tourism industry for the NE region.

Addressing the conference, Arunachal Pradesh Tourism, Transport, Land Management and Civil Aviation Minister  Nakap Nalo said that Arunachal Pradesh has a vast potential for tourism development and it could only developed if the central government support the state being border state for promotion of border tourism, cultural tourism, eco tourism, adventure tourism, wellness tourism and other. He requested the central government to open a window in NEC for tourism development related activities so that the tourism industry grows for economic upliftment, employment opportunities and other activities.  

Nalo also informed that under Prasad Scheme -I tender work has been done with regards to Parsuram kund in Lohit district. The minister urged the centre to consider other places in Prashad-II.

“Namsai, Pasighat, Malinathan, Bismaknagar, Menga Mandir Daporijo and Ziro Shivling will be part of Prasad scheme. Also, we are proposing a Buddhist circuit which would connect important towns like Namsai, Tuting, Mechuka, Taksing, Bomdila and Tawang. I request the govt of India for consideration of the project lying in the tourism Ministry,” said Nakap Nalo.  He said more funding from the union government is required to promote tourism in Arunachal Pradesh and also said the state is looking forward to the visit of the union minister.

Union state Minister for  Tourism and Defense Ajay Bhatt, Union Minister of state for Culture and Parliamentary Affairs Arjun Ram Megwal, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Hemanta Bishwa Sarma and Union Tourism Secretary Arbind Singh will address the conference among others.

The senior officers from tourism ministry, Cultural Affairs Ministry, Railway, Telecommunication, Ministry of Road Transport & Highway, Civil Aviation, Inland Waterway, tour operators and other officers associated with promotion of Tourism in NE region are taking part in the conference.

Advisor Tourism Laisam Simai, Secretary Tourism Sadhna Deori, Cultural Affairs Secretary Remo Kamki, Deputy Director Tourism Gedo  Esi, Guwahati DRC    Pranjit Sharma etc also attended.
