On August 1, 2023, the Assam Rifles organized a solemn wreath-laying ceremony at Changlang District, Arunachal Pradesh, to honor the supreme sacrifice of the braveheart, No. G/3100546X Rfn (GD) Narayan Singh. The ceremony commemorated his courageous act during an operation on July 28, 1994, in Manipur’s Gen A Tamei, where he charged forward at personal risk to silence fire from a fortified bunker, allowing the raid group to advance.
Rfn (GD) Narayan Singh successfully eliminated nine Naga militants and destroyed the bunker but unfortunately succumbed to injuries from a grenade splinter. He was posthumously awarded the Shaurya Chakra on August 15, 1995, for his exemplary courage and devotion to duty. During the ceremony, the unit also interacted with the braveheart’s family members to offer their condolences and gratitude for his sacrifice.
