Assam Rifles Celebrates International Day of Yoga with Enthusiasm and Participation

Changlang: – Assam Rifles, one of India’s oldest paramilitary forces, celebrated the International Day of Yoga with great fervor and enthusiasm. Under the theme “Yoga for Vasudhaiva Katumbakam,” the force organized a mass yoga event at all COBs (Company Operating Bases) and the Pongtu Moh Mol Ground in Changlang.

The primary objective of the event was to raise awareness about the numerous benefits of yoga among both the local population and the troops. By embracing yoga as a regular part of their lives, participants were encouraged to maintain good physical and mental health. The event was meticulously planned and executed, garnering whole-hearted participation from Assam Rifles personnel, CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) members, district police officers, school students from VKV (Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya) and Kasthurba Ghandi schools, as well as local administrative officials such as GBs (Gaon Burahs) and GPMs (Gaon Panchayat Members).

Prominent civil dignitaries of Changlang district were also in attendance to support the event. Shri Tapir Gao, Member of Parliament from Arunachal East, Shri Tesam Pongte, MLA Changlang North, Shri Phusum Khimhun, MLA Changlang South, Shri Sunny K Singh, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of Changlang, and Shri Shabir Choudhary, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Changlang, graced the occasion with their presence.

During the event, participants were guided by trained yoga instructors who demonstrated 14 different yoga asanas (postures). The instructors emphasized the importance and benefits of yoga in maintaining physical and mental well-being, as well as its role in preventing lifestyle diseases. The session concluded on a positive note, with a pledge taken by all attendees to “Say no to tobacco,” advocating for a healthy and tobacco-free lifestyle.

The International Day of Yoga, celebrated annually on June 21st, was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014, following a proposal by the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The day serves as a reminder of the significant impact yoga has on promoting holistic health and well-being.

Through this grand celebration, Assam Rifles has made a significant contribution to spreading awareness about the transformative power of yoga, aiming to inspire individuals to incorporate yoga into their daily lives. The event exemplified the force’s commitment to the welfare of its personnel and the local community, promoting a healthy and balanced lifestyle for all.
