Landmark progress in school land documentation effort led by APPDSU

Yupia, 10th Jan, 2024: In a momentous initiative, the All Papum Pare District Students Union (APPDSU) has successfully led the charge in documenting school land. Out of 192 schools, 165 are poised to acquire land documents by the year’s end. The remaining 27 schools, entangled in disputes over encroachments and land claims, will undergo processing once the issues are resolved.

This decision materialized during a coordination meeting involving Education, Land, and District Administration, instigated by APPDSU following discussions held on 13th February, 2023. The primary objective is to shield school premises from encroachments, with APPDSU at the forefront.

Papum Pare DC Jiken Bomjen commended the student body’s efforts, emphasizing that this movement, led by President Gollo Lento and General Secretary Tok Nanu, will fortify measures to protect government land, especially schools.

Papum Pare DDSE T.T. Tara revealed the formation of local committees, comprising members from administration, education, land, and APPDSU, to expedite school land regularization. Many committees have completed surveys and paperwork, awaiting approval from concerned authorities.

DLRSO Nanne Yowa acknowledged manpower shortages but highlighted that 90% of school land mapping, including defunct ones, has been completed. He requested concrete posts at school corners for better demarcation.

APPDSU General Secretary Tok Nanu urged the administration to prominently display school land documents, emphasizing recognition of land donors by the District Administration. He also stressed the timely issuance of land documents.

DPC Samargha Shiksha Abhiyaan Tang Moromi provided a comprehensive overview of rural Papum Pare schools’ land documentation status, noting that 165 schools are encumbrance-free, with 17 schools in Kimin block receiving land documents.
