ITANAGAR, JUNE 8 : There is a need of active support and cooperation from all stake holders for a “ Drug free Arunachal Pradesh” by 2022 and Arunachal Pradesh Police has taken up as a challenge and emphasis are given to delink the supply chain of drug in state through various means. Informed Home Minister Bamang Felix.
Home Minister Bamang Felix alongwith DGP R P Upadhyaya was speaking to media person here at Chimpu Police battalion campus today afternoon said that drug menace is a challenge and the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister of Pema Khandu has taken a decision to work hard with a determination to make the Arunachal Pradesh a drug free state and the decision was taken up on the SP and commandants conference held at Tawang from April 19 to 21. Felix said.
We are motivating all the officers of all ranks to work hard to crake drug rackets and delink the supply chain in the respective area of various district of state. emphasis has been given to unearth the supply line of the synthetic drugs which has been damaging the precious life of our youths who the future of tomorrow. Home Minister said.
All the officers with intelligence and support of the likeminded people and NGOs working against the drug menace in several district was possible to cracking drug mafias and also recovery of huge quantity of country band drug and substances. Since April 21 the APP has registered 86 cases with arrest of 143 people and recovery of 207 KGs of cannabis (Gamja), 1.8 KG of opium, 1.2 KG of Heroin, 800 grams of brown sugar and cash of Rs, 1,23,830/= apart of drug substances the police has been able to seized 1 nos of 7.32 Pistol with 7 live round without licence, 1 no of 12 bore SBBL gun with 18 live rounds, 1 no of 9 mm pistol with 6 live rounds, 3 AK live ammunition and 1 Chinese hand grenade. Several two wheelers and four wheelers used by the peddlers has also been seized with recovers several mobiles phones and sim cards. Home Minister said.
As statement and data available it has been observed that most part of state has been affected by the drug menace and it is affecting the life of people across the state including the man in uniform has also been found indulgence and action has been accordingly been taken against them also. Felix said.
Within a span of one and half month we have registered highest numbers of 86 NDPS cases in state and it was only possible with the concentrated efforts of all stake holders and is a good sign and we can contain and also able to delink the supply chain and appeal all section of society to help and support the state government and police department in making the drug free Arunachal. Stated Felix with commitment.
The state government has decided to upgrade all the government rehabilitation centers and also support and cooperate with NGOs run rehabilitation centers across the state with establishment of control room and anyone who want to share the information can share and their names and identity will be kept secret and assured that action will be initiated at any cost to curb the menace from the state of Arunachal Pradesh. Home Minister added.
We are also coordinating with the Assam counterpart and hope that all coordinate each other in fight against the drug which is damaging the precious life of our youths who are the future of our state and country and give a clarion call to each and every citizens of state to join hands.
DGP, R P Upadhyaya inform that we will also not tolerate when the man in uniform also indulge in such NDPS cases and accordingly the department has also taken appropriate action all those who were found indulgence in the drug cases. Few of the police personnel has also been found indulging in drug cases in other states of the region and legal action has also been taken against them also as per law. DGP said.
In year 2020 14 APP personnel were arrested and suspended, out of which 2 police personnel were dismissed from the service. Departmental enquiry has been initiated against all those personnel. As on today all total 25 personnels has been found indulgence and legal action has been initiated. DGP said.
We have wage war against drug and will try our best effort to curb the menace. DGP further said.
As per data available in capital complex alone 16 cases has been registered with arrest of 23 people followed by East Siang with 14 cases with 23 people, Namsai with 10 cases registered with arrest of 12 people, Changlang 8 cases registered with arrest of 15 people and Longding with 7 cases and arrest of 14 people. West Kameng with 2 case with 5 arrested, in East Kameng 4 cases were registered and 4 person were arrested, in Tirap 5 cases were registered and 8 people were arrested, in Lower Siang 4 cases were registered and 8 person were arrested, in Lohit 2 case were registered and 1 person has been arrested, in lower Dibang valley 4 cases were registered and 8 person were arrested, in Upper Siang 1 case was registered and 2 persons were arrested in Leparada 1 case registered with arrest of 1 person arrested and in West Siang 2 case has been registered and 4 person has been arrested.
