ITANAGAR, MARCH 28 : The violation of model code of conduct (MCC) is being strictly enforced. Action is being taken against violation of MCC, cash and kind more than 11 crore has been seized so far. Informed Chief electoral officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain
Addressing the media, the CEO Arunachal Pradesh Pawan Kumar Sain informed that one state level committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of commissioner Transport decided the dates and vehicle charges for election purposes for all the districts. He said.
The seizure is being done by the flying squad and check nakas established in various parts and being managed by all the respective SPs. All the check post has been directed to stop MCC violations. More than 3 crore cash has been seized, liquor worth more than 4 crore, drugs and narcotic worth 30 lakhs, precious matter worth around 2.5 crore, weeds worth 74 lakhs and a cumulative of around 11 crore has been done. He said.
We are committed to conduct free and fair election. Forces has already arrived and more forces are arriving. He said.
Integrated check gates and police nakas has been established to check MCC violation without harassing public. He said.
As per data available 37 interstate nakas has been established, 61 intra state, 180 FST, 168 SST and 37 QRT has been established to check model code of conduct. 79 nos of peson has been bound down under Sec 107, 108, 110 r/w 151 of CrPc, 1973. 701 person has been bound down under Sec 107, 108, 110 r/w 116 (3) of CrPc, 1973. As on date 15389 licensed arms has been deposited, 147 arms has been impounded so far. He said
Several cases of MCC violation has been reported which include misuse of government vehicles, violation of loudspeaker Act, illegal meeting without permission, cash and kind distribution and other cases has been reported and cases are also being registered and action are being taken thereof. He said.
All the SPs has been asked to maintain area domination, if any electoral offences has been seen the officers at check post has been directed to take strict action. We have also requested to conduct surprise check to emergency serves to respective poling station in remote areas with regards to power and water supply and other essential requirements. In respect to shadow areas it has been requested to planned to arrange VHS sets and VSats, satellite phones etc where internets and mobile services are not available. He said.
The nomination process was successful by March 27th and the ROs has conducted the scrutiny of nomination papers of the candidates. The last date of withdrawal is March 30 and name of candidates will be declared for election. He said.
Referring to the videos circulating in social media about candidates threatening to government servants, the CEO said that I got to know from sources and sought report form concerned Deputy Commissioner. Once it is verified from the concerned RO action will be taken as per law. He added.
He appeals the voters to know about their right to vote and the voters of Arunachal Pradesh are aware. I request the voters to come up and vote and make us proud.
A decision has been taken to have a press briefing every day in evening to update on the election matters. He further said.
