LEKHI, The inter-state bus terminal located at Lekhi in between Naharlagun-Nirjuli in state capital complex has been renamed as “ Nabam Runghi Inter-State Bus Terminal” to honour Late Nabam Runghi the pioneer of the Arunachal Pradesh state capital ‘Itanagar’.
The Secretary Transport & Disaster management Dani Salu informed that the state government earlier has announced to honour the pioneer of state capital Nabam Runghi and it was state government decision to honour the pioneer of state capital Itanagar due to him the Itanagar capital was come into being and was named. He said.
The Government of Arunachal Pradesh in honour of Late Nabam Runghi, former member of Agency Council, NEFA and a man behind establishment of Capital City of Arunachal Pradesh at Itanagar.
“ I had a meeting with the President of Nabam Welfare Society (NWS) and family members of Late Nabam Runghi and informed them about the development” Salu added.
Meanwhile several local leaders and others have lauded the initiative of the state government for honouring Late Runghi who is our pioneer.
As per official sources, the signboard of the ISBT at Lekhi has been changed and soon the bus ticket may also be changed accordingly. An official said.
