ITANAGAR, The Capital Police held a press briefing here at the Itanagar Police Station on Tuesday, and provided updates on the traffic situation in the capital region.
Speaking to the media fraternity, Superintendent of Police capital complex, Jimmy Chiram informed that as per latest reports, the citizens of ICR have been showing traffic discipline recently by following traffic rules in large numbers.
At least 75 percent of the population has been found obeying traffic rules like wearing seatbelts and helmets in case of two wheeler riders. The remaining traffic violators are also being educated by the traffic team, informed SP Chiram.
Chiram further informed that Cap Pol has been conducting traffic awareness programs in schools to educate the students about the importance of obeying traffic rules. So far, about 8 schools in the ICR have been covered under the awareness program, added SP Chiram.
In a small ceremony held here at the Itanagar PS, SP Chiram distributed windcheater cum rain coats among the traffic wardens, the windcheater cum rain coats were provided by a well wisher as a new year’s gift to show appreciation for their selfless service, informed Chiram.
Dy SP traffic Nobin Jomoh, SDPO Kamdam Sikom, OC Phassang Simi and OC traffic KB Chettri among others were also present on the occasion.
