ITANAGAR, 22 Apr: The Election commission of India (ECI) has ordered for repolling at 8 polling stations spread across Kurung Kumey, Upper Subansiri, Siang, and East Kameng districts. Informed Arunachal Pradesh Chief Election officer (CEO) Pawan Kumar Sain.
Addressing the media here at conference hall of NIrvachan Bhawan, Itanagar the CEO Sain said that the voting will take place on 24 April and the timing of voting from 6 AM to 2 PM.
He said that the repoll will take place at 40-Sario Sara in 8-Bameng assembly constituency in East Kameng district, 22-Dingser, 33-Bogia Siyum, 34-Jimbari and 45-Lengi Polling Stations under 22-Nacho assembly constituency, 13-Langte Loth under 19-Nyapin assembly constituency and 19-Bogne, 22-Molom in 32-Rumgong constituency.
He also said elaborate security arrangements have been made for the repoll.
The repoll order has been made on the basis of the report submitted by the Returning officer (RO) and after taking all materials and circumstances into account. The poll process was made on April 19 and fresh poll will takes place on April 24. The CEO said.
The IGP law and order Chukhu Apa alongwith 5 SP will be stationed in Daporijo to monitor the repoll in the Upper Subansiri district. “ each SP rank officers will be in charge of one each polling station and all the 8 polling stations will be managed. Heavy deployments of central para-military forces are being done. 10 company of CAPF will be deployed. We will not tolerate violence or attempt to derail the voting process,” said CEO Sain.
The repolling has been necessitated in Upper Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, and East Kameng following poll-related violence including the destruction of EVMs and physical assault on election agents and snatching away of EVMs. The CEO added.
All the poling personnels with ARO and magistrate and DEO has left for the polling station for fresh polling station alongwith polling materials with reserved EVMs extra with sector officers. The CEO further said
