A massive landslide struck the right bank of the NHPC Lower Subansiri Hydroelectric Project in Assam’s Gogamukh on Monday following a heavy spell of rainfall, according to reports.

Sources revealed that the landslide caused rocks to tumble from a height of at least 200 meters, severely impacting the area around the dam. Tragically, a worker, identified as Putul Gogoi, a resident of Mingmang Madanpur in Gogamukh, was caught in the landslide.

Putul Gogoi sustained serious injuries and was immediately rushed to the Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMCH) for medical attention. Despite the efforts of the medical team, he was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

The incident has raised concerns about safety measures at the hydroelectric project, especially during adverse weather conditions.
