Unique Drug Awareness Campaign ‘Together We Can’ Launches in Longding

The Arunachal Photography Club and Femina Miss India Arunachal 2023 came together to launch a distinctive drug awareness campaign, ‘Together We Can,’ in Longding. The campaign, which took a novel approach to address the issue, aimed not only to sensitize drug addicts but also their families and the wider society.

The event, which witnessed the participation of over 250 individuals, was graced by Thangpo Wangnow, MLA of Longding, who served as the Chief Guest. The President of the Arunachal Photography Club, Bengia Mrinal, articulated the reasons behind choosing Longding as the campaign’s launch site and underscored the importance of the novel approach adopted.

Tana Puniya, the reigning Femina Miss India Arunachal 2023, shared her poignant insights into the destructive impact of drug abuse. Drawing from her personal journey, she explained her motivation behind initiating the campaign and her determination to make a difference.

Resource persons, including Miss Alisha K from DTCC ICR and Tadar Hania, MD of New Hope Foundation, provided valuable knowledge and shared effective strategies to combat drug abuse by engaging family, friends, and society.

Adv Chombey Wangpan, President of the Wancho Council, emphasized the critical role of society in eradicating the drug menace and discussed measures to control cross-border drug trafficking. MLA Thangpo Wangnow expressed his appreciation for the initiative and urged government support for similar campaigns, stressing their essential role in raising awareness and fostering change. He urged attendees, including students, community leaders, and participants, to disseminate the campaign’s message in schools and communities, leveraging government schemes designed to curb drug abuse.

Earlier in the day, a dynamic bike rally led by 25 members of the Arunachal Bullet Club, Longding Unit, and the Head Hunters Wancho Motorcycle Club roared through the streets, adorned with eye-catching drug awareness placards. The rally served as a striking visual reminder of the urgency and significance of the campaign’s message.
