HPDCAPL CMD Toko Onuj ask the Jal Urja Mitra to become ambassador of hydro power development in state and region

ITANAGAR, SEPT 8: The Hydro power development corporation Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Toko Onuj on Saturday ask the Jal Urja Mitra to become ambassador of hydro power development in state.

Onuj, flagged off the on-site training of trainees selected for Jal Urja Mitra Skill Development Programme (JSDP) at HPDCAPL corporate office this afternoon and ask the trainees to become a role model and become skilled in the hydro power development. He said that the on-site training shall be conducted at Sumbachu SHP (2×1.5 MW), Zemithang, Tawang and other Small Hydro Projects implemented by HPDCAPL. 

There are lots of opportunities for future and employment and self employment as state has a vast potential in hydro power development and recently the state has MOU with several power giants who may take up mega power projects in state. The Multinational company will come to state and construct mega dams but it should be our endeavor that we should also be skilled nougat to tackle these projects and for which thousand of skilled youths are needs and if once they can manage themselves and also become torch bears in the jal urja in state. He said.

The selected trainees were imparted with rigorous 45 day theoretical classes at Rajiv Gandhi Government Polytechnic College, Itanagar and shall be given the opportunity to experience first hand experience on Operation and Maintenance of Small Hydro Projects, including supervision of under construction projects for another 45 days..He said.

The Jal Urja Mitra Skill Development Programme (JSDP) was launched under the Skill Development initiative by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), GoI and Department of Hydro and Renewable Energy, IIT Roorkee was mandated as the Nodal Agency for implementing the scheme. During flagship phase, 5 states were selected, among which, from the North Eastern Region only Arunachal Pradesh got preferred and HPDCAPL and was empanelled as Training provider of Arunachal Pradesh and subsequently HPDCAPL selected Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Polytechnic college (RGGPC), which is a National Skill Development Corporation accredited institute. as the designated Training Centre. Under this programme the trainees will be imparted with free of cost, specialised technician training pertaining to Small Hydro Power (SHP) Projects, which covers operation, testing and maintaining different electrical, mechanical and civil components of every kind of SHP (run of the river, canal fall based and dam toe based). On successful completion of training the eligible trainees will be provided certification by National Council for Green Job, GoI. He said.

He briefed about the programme and also highlighted on the Global challenge and pledge of developing Renewable energy sources for mitigating negative climate change, thus emphasized on the huge requirements of skilled human resource required in Renewable energy Sector. He urged on the trainees to avail the training programme with utmost dedication and sincerity and wished them good luck. The CMD Onuj added.

He also updated on the succeeding batches of JSDP, informing that the modalities for starting the next batches of JSDP are in advanced stages and shall be started soon.

Officers and officials from HPDCAPL, Trainers from RGGPC, JSDP trainees were present on the occasion.
