39th annual sports day cum valedictory function sporting, cultural and literary competition of GHSS, Itanagar concluded. 

ITANAGAR, DEC 16 : The 39th annual sports day cum valedictory function sporting, cultural and literary competition of GHSS, Itanagar concluded here on Friday with day long programme. 

Former General Secretary, G.H.S.S, Itanagar Tanya Agu and AAPSU former AGS  Kasung Cheda attended as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. 

Addressing the function, Angu emphasis and advised the students on the 3 D’s of life which include determination, dedication and discipline. With these three d and commitment with sincerity one can achieve their goal and target to lead a life as a good citizen.

He also asked the students to maintain the relationship between the teachers and students and respect parents and elders so that the younger generation reciprocate them in future. 

We should remind that whatever we did in whole year are reflected. We are here to study and become a good citizen should be our main agenda of going to school. He said.


We should create good atmosphere as it is one of important institution of state which have produced several eminent personality. Today we all are busy in our respective work as many has reached to a respectable position and are in the society so we should carry out the legacy of our senior has done. He said.

Everyone has a dream to become something but we can achieve the goal if one can go with an ambition and discipline with commitment, determination and later deliver the goods and become a fine gentleman and serve the society. Added. Agu.

Guest of honour, Kasung Cheda in his address said that today we are here but tomorrow will be the present students and youths so you don’t waste time and energy in unnecessary things 

He strongly advised students not to get married early, to be discipline for successful life and to remain away from the clutch of Drugs.

He suggested for an alumni association who may take care of the school for progress and development. 

As the day was dedicated to the Alumnus, therefore, to motivate the students two Alumnus Shri Manoj Singh, Senior Journalist and Shri Tadar Kayu, Social Worker have shared their experience as a student and appeal the students to focus in their goal and maintain discipline and obedience towards their teachers to be successful in their life.

GHSS Principal Tumngam Nyodu, Vice Principal Geli Kamki, PGT Gebu Gyana also address the occasion and elaborated several activities undertaken during past few years, progress and development in education scenario, infrastructure development etc.  

The prizes distribution for several cultural prizes, sporting events, lliterary activities were distributed to the students. 

Subansiri house was declared as champion house,     Lohit house was declared as discipline house,  Phassang Taluk has been declared as best student while Eliza Taki was best house mistress.      

It is to mention that at present the Government Higher Secondary School Itanagar has 1424 students with 15-PGT, TGT: 18 (One TGT attached with DSE), Lab. Assistant: 03, MT : 01, WWT : 01, PET : 01, T.T (ISSE): 01,     I.T (ISSE) LAB.ASSTT. :01 with ministerial staffs. 

The school bus condition is not good and the school authority has been demanding for construction of boundary wall and providing of other facility and a memorandum was submitted to the Education commissioner who was the chief guest during the inaugural day on December 12.
